Women who have taken the abortion pill, mifepristone, also known as RU486, and have changed their minds, have a second chance.
A medical induced abortion is a two-step drug regimen. Mifepristone/RU486/Mifeprex same drug/different names (first drug taken at clinic)
Misoprostol/Cytotec is a pill given 12-36 hours after taking the RU486 pill to complete the abortion (second drug taken at home)
Each of these pills have different actions. The abortion Pill reversal addresses undoing the first drug for women who have changed their mind prior to taking the second drug.
